Richard joined Dow Schofield Watts as a Director in the Corporate Finance team in April 2017.
Richard qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1987 and spent 3O years working in Commercial and Corporate Banking at Lloyds Banking Group dealing with SMEs through to FTSE 100 PLCs.
Various roles in Relationship Management in the Yorkshire and the Humber Region has given Richard considerable experience in leading the financing of complex multi banked club or syndicated loans for the PLC market (eg Cranswick, Kcom, Fenner) through to simple bi lateral, working capital and ABL type facilities for SME and Mid Market clients. In addition Richard has experience of raising debt for investment grade clients through US Private Placements (eg Fenner) and also through the High Yield Bond market (eg DFS). He also has experience of supporting and providing banking facilities for clients undertaking IPOs. In addition Richard has assisted a number of businesses through a change in ownership working alongside and with a number of private equity houses and debt funds (eg MKM, DFS,CAP Automotive, TD Travel, Symingtons, Meteo Group, Lowell Group, Republic).
The nature of Richard’s roles at Lloyds have enabled him to develop extensive knowledge and contacts in the manufacturing, food and drink, retailing, caravan and leisure, construction and building materials, TMT and business services sectors.
In his spare time, Richard plays golf, walks and cycles around the Yorkshire Wolds and enjoys going to the gym. Other interests include travelling, visiting friends and family dotted around the UK and the world usually combining it with seeing a concert of some sort. He loves watching all sport particularly Rugby and Football and his wish is to one day see Leeds United competing in the top division again.
